Tragedy as Pastor and Wife Are Found Dead After Alleged Domestic Fight

Tragedy has struck the Akinode/Ibogun community in Ogun State following the deaths of a Celestial Church of Christ evangelist, Abidemi Odukoya, and his wife, Adenike, after an alleged domestic dispute reportedly turned violent.

The incident was said to have occurred in the early hours of Monday, August 25, when the couple allegedly engaged in an argument that escalated into a physical confrontation at their residence.

According to reports, Adenike was left unconscious and seriously injured following the alleged altercation, while her husband was said to have left the house before residents could determine his whereabouts.

A former Chairman of the Community Development Association, Adejimi Olawumi, recounted how he was alerted to the incident after hearing neighbours shouting for help at about 1 a.m.

According to Olawumi, he encountered one of the couple’s children, who informed him that something had happened involving his parents. He immediately alerted other residents, and they reportedly entered the house, where they found Adenike lying in a pool of blood.

The community members reportedly faced difficulty getting immediate transportation to take the injured woman to the hospital.

Olawumi added that the couple’s son said he did not witness what happened between his parents because he was in another room at the time of the incident.

As residents gathered to respond to the situation, they reportedly discovered that the evangelist was missing. Members of the Community Development Association subsequently began searching for him and alerted community leaders about the development.

However, they later received information that Odukoya had allegedly been hit by a vehicle in the Ifo area of Ogun State.

The police reportedly took him to a hospital, where members of the community later confirmed his identity. His death came as another devastating development for the family and community, which was already dealing with the condition of his wife.

Olawumi expressed shock over the tragedy, saying residents had reportedly been aware that the couple occasionally had disagreements but had always believed the issues were resolved.

Meanwhile, the late evangelist’s younger sister claimed in a video circulating online that the couple had allegedly experienced repeated marital disagreements before their deaths.

According to her, the couple had previously visited her home around April after an earlier dispute. She said the matter was eventually taken to a police station, where it was reportedly resolved.

The sister explained that she had advised both of them to remain patient and peaceful with each other, noting that family members and others had previously intervened in their disagreements.

The family was later informed about the tragic incident after one of the siblings received a phone call.

Adenike was reportedly buried on the same day the incident occurred, while her husband, Evangelist Abidemi Odukoya, was laid to rest on Wednesday, September 2. Videos circulating online showed clerics performing burial rites over the late evangelist’s remains at an undisclosed location.

The tragic deaths of the couple have sparked sadness and concern, particularly over the reported history of domestic disputes between them. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain based on allegations and witness accounts, with the full details expected to depend on any official investigation or findings by the relevant authorities.
