APC Appoints Wike, Adeleke and Soludo as State Campaign Coordinators for 2027 Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke; and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo as state campaign coordinators in its expanded presidential campaign council ahead of the 2027 general election.

The appointments have attracted attention because the three political figures belong to parties other than the APC. Wike is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Soludo belongs to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), while Adeleke secured re-election as Osun governor in 2026 under the Accord Party.

Under the new arrangement, Wike will coordinate the APC’s campaign activities in Rivers State and the FCT. Soludo has been assigned to oversee the party’s campaign in Anambra State, while Adeleke will coordinate its activities in Osun State.

The expanded campaign council is scheduled to be inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.

The APC had earlier released its initial campaign council list on August 22, appointing former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari as director-general. Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were named deputy director-generals.

In the revised structure, Akpabio, Abbas and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq have been appointed deputy vice-chairmen I, II and III, respectively. Buni has also been designated deputy director-general I for the North.

The expanded council includes several former governors, political leaders and party chieftains serving as advisers. They include former APC national chairmen Adebisi Akande and Abdullahi Adamu; former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun; former Osun State Governor Iyiola Omisore; Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo; Senator George Akume; former Ogun State Governor Segun Osoba; and Wale Edun.

Obafemi George has also been listed as an adviser on media.

The appointments form part of the APC’s preparations for the 2027 presidential election, with the expanded council bringing together political figures from different backgrounds and party affiliations. However, the roles assigned to Wike, Adeleke and Soludo are campaign appointments, and the provided report does not explain whether they have changed their existing party affiliations.
