Desola Afod, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Kunle Afod, has apologised to members of the Nigerian movie industry following her earlier comments about some Nollywood stars.
The actress’s estranged wife made the apology in a post on one of her social media pages, where she expressed appreciation to veteran actor Afeez Owo for reaching out to her.
Desola thanked Afeez Owo, popularly known as Baba Gani, for his intervention and sincerely apologised for disappointing him with her previous remarks.
She also announced that she was retracting her general statement about members of the movie industry, explaining that she did not intend to condemn or refer to everyone in Nollywood.
According to her, her comments were directed at only a few individuals whom she believes treated her unfairly, insisting that those involved knew themselves.
Desola further stated that she had moved on from the unpleasant experiences, suggesting that she was ready to put the matter behind her.
In her words, “Can’t thank you enough, Baba Gani (Afeez Owo). I truly appreciate you, sir, and I sincerely apologise for disappointing you with my words.”
She continued, “Whatever statement I made generally concerning ‘Awon Omo Tiatia’, I hereby retract and take it back. I didn’t mean to generalise or refer to everyone in the industry.”
Despite offering an apology and withdrawing her general remarks, Desola maintained that her position regarding the individuals she believes wronged her had not changed.
She concluded her message by declaring that she remained proud of her identity, describing herself as “Desola Afod, celeb wife, till the end of time.”
Her statement ended with the words, “I am sorry. Love and light.”
The apology has brought renewed attention to Desola’s relationship with members of the Nollywood industry, while her appreciation for Afeez Owo highlights his role in reaching out to her over the controversy.
Although she has retracted her general statement, Desola has maintained that her grievances against the few individuals she accused of treating her unfairly remain personal.
