Nigerian businessman Chief Solomon Aguene has sparked mixed reactions on social media after declaring that he plans to bring Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to his country home in Ebonyi State.
Aguene made the statement while welcoming former Super Eagles coach Jo Bonfrère to Ebonyi State. The former Nigerian Olympic football coach was reportedly in Abakaliki to attend the opening of the businessman’s country home.
During the event, Aguene expressed confidence that Ronaldo would soon visit his residence, claiming that he was already in communication with the Al-Nassr forward and Portugal captain.
In his words, “I will bring Cristiano Ronaldo to my house here in Ebonyi State. In fact, I’m already in communication with him, and he’s coming soon.”
His declaration quickly attracted attention on X, where users expressed different opinions about the possibility of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner visiting the businessman’s home in southeastern Nigeria.
While some social media users mocked Aguene’s claim and questioned whether he was genuinely in contact with Ronaldo, others expressed curiosity about whether the football star would eventually make the trip.
One user, @ChinweoluPasch1, jokingly suggested that the businessman might be communicating with a Nigerian pretending to be Ronaldo.
Similarly, @lokaref humorously claimed that Aguene might have been chatting with him rather than the Portuguese football star, adding a laughing emoji to the comment.
Another user, @Blaqness01, suggested that former coach Jo Bonfrère might be the person giving Aguene the impression that he could bring Ronaldo to Nigeria.
The businessman’s country home also became a subject of discussion, with some users commenting on its appearance and location.
@NelsonNnanna6 questioned the building’s proximity to the road, arguing that expanding the road could affect the property.
Meanwhile, @IkeduruBros compared the house to a low-budget version of the White House, suggesting that it could serve as a location for Nollywood movie productions.
Another user, @Aku857, said they did not find anything particularly special about the building.
Despite the criticism and jokes, some users appeared open to the possibility of Ronaldo visiting Ebonyi State. @InahKenneth expressed readiness to welcome the football star, while @shagmoneydrix argued that such a visit could happen if Aguene had the financial resources to make it possible.
Another commenter, @Real_Giilo, expressed amazement at the level of wealth some Nigerians possess.
Aguene’s declaration has continued to generate conversations online, with many people waiting to see whether his claim will become a reality.
However, the businessman’s statement alone does not confirm that Ronaldo has accepted an invitation or scheduled a visit to Ebonyi State. The football star’s alleged communication with Aguene and the proposed visit have not been independently confirmed.
