Oyo Chief of Staff Segun Ogunwuyi Resigns From Makinde’s Government

Segun Ogunwuyi, the Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, has resigned from his position, effective Monday, October 12, 2026.

Ogunwuyi announced his resignation in a letter dated October 12, 2026, stating that his decision took effect immediately.

The former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives is among several aides to Governor Makinde who have resigned from the state government in the past two months.

In his resignation letter addressed to the governor, Ogunwuyi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the government and the people of Oyo State.

He described his time in office as an honour and said he was fulfilled to have been part of the team responsible for the achievements recorded by the Makinde administration.

“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour. It has been deeply fulfilling to be part of the exceptional team that has worked relentlessly to deliver the remarkable achievements of this administration,” he stated.

Ogunwuyi added that he was proud of the collective efforts made to promote the growth, development and prosperity of the state.

He also expressed confidence in Oyo State’s continued progress, despite his decision to leave the position.

“As I take this decision, I do so with profound gratitude for the opportunity to serve, with confidence in the continued progress of Oyo State,” he said.

The former Chief of Staff concluded the letter by reaffirming his respect for Governor Makinde and his loyalty to Oyo State and Nigeria.

His resignation comes amid a series of departures by political aides from the Makinde administration over the past two months. However, the letter did not disclose the specific reason for his decision to resign.

Ogunwuyi’s next political move remains unclear.
