Veteran Nollywood actress Toyin Afolayan, popularly known as Lola Idije, has come to the defence of her younger colleague, Sotayo Gaga, by addressing what she described as a misconception about the actress's personality.
Speaking during an interview with African A-List, Lola Idije explained that many people wrongly perceive Sotayo as wicked, strict and proud because of her quiet nature and preference for keeping to herself.
According to the veteran actress, Sotayo is a good and blessed person who simply enjoys her own company. She noted that people who do not make an effort to get close to the actress may misunderstand her reserved personality.
Lola Idije further compared Sotayo's behaviour to hers, explaining that she also enjoys being alone and does not joke around much outside her acting roles.
Describing her younger colleague, she said, “Sotayo is a good child, a blessed child. If people don’t go close to her, they will say she is strict. Sotayo loves being alone; it isn’t pride, just like me.”
She continued, “Like me, I only joke when I am acting; I don’t know how to do it otherwise.”
Her comments have offered a different perspective on Sotayo Gaga's personality, as she encouraged people not to mistake someone's quietness or preference for privacy for arrogance.
Lola Idije's remarks also highlight the importance of understanding people's individual personalities rather than judging them based on how sociable or outgoing they appear to be.
