Nollywood actress Yetunde Bakare has spoken out again amid the controversy surrounding a leaked audio recording allegedly involving her colleague, Toyin Abraham.
The controversy began after a 12-minute audio recording surfaced online, with Abraham reportedly heard expressing frustration over the constant insults and criticism she receives. The actress was also heard discussing some of her relationships with colleagues.
The conversation, which was largely conducted in Yoruba and Pidgin English, reportedly included Abraham’s fan, Bisgold, making insulting comments about fellow actress Funke Akindele. Abraham was allegedly heard laughing during the exchange without asking the fan to stop.
The recording also revisited previous issues involving actress Iyabo Ojo. Bisgold reportedly claimed that Abraham had not moved on from the incident, to which the actress allegedly agreed while laughing.
Amid the backlash, Yetunde Bakare commented on a post by Regina Chukwu about people secretly recording private conversations. Her comment attracted criticism from some social media users, who accused her of taking sides in the controversy.
Bakare subsequently defended herself, questioning why openly supporting someone had become a problem. She also described some of the reactions against her as unnecessary and harsh.
In a later video, the actress clarified that she was unaware of the leaked audio when she made the comment on Regina Chukwu’s post. According to her, her statement was not directed at the leaked recording because she had not seen or heard it at the time.
Bakare further claimed that she has repeatedly faced attacks from some of Toyin Abraham’s fans whenever she comments on Funke Akindele’s social media posts. She said the repeated criticism contributed to the misunderstanding surrounding her recent comment.
The actress’ clarification comes as the leaked recording continues to generate reactions online, with the controversy sparking wider discussions about celebrity friendships, private conversations, fan loyalty and tensions within the Nollywood industry.
