Nollywood actor and filmmaker Yomi Fabiyi has appealed to Elizabeth Akanbi, the widow of late gospel singer Toluwanisings, to allow her husband's family to handle his burial arrangements according to their wishes.
The actor urged the grieving widow to put aside the disagreement with her late husband's relatives and allow peace to prevail as preparations for the singer's burial continue.
Fabiyi expressed concern that the disagreement over where Toluwanisings should be buried could create further tension between his widow and family members.
He also noted that the singer's father had not spoken negatively about his late son, arguing that Elizabeth should give the family the opportunity to carry out their burial plans without further controversy.
In a statement shared on social media, Fabiyi wrote:
“I would advise his wife to allow her husband to be buried according to the wishes and plans of his family. After all, Toluwanisings’ father has not said anything evil against his late son. She should allow peace to reign in the family and let the burial process go on without further controversy.”
His intervention comes amid the ongoing disagreement between Elizabeth and Toluwanisings’ family over the appropriate location for the singer's burial.
The controversy has attracted reactions from several Nigerians, including celebrities who have continued to share their opinions on the matter.
Fabiyi's appeal has added another voice to the ongoing discussion, with the actor calling for understanding and a peaceful resolution so that the late singer can be laid to rest without further disputes.
