A boy named Isreal Buhari was mistakenly given kerosene by his mother who is a kerosene seller in at Iguma Street, Off Medical Stores Road, Benin, Edo State. She gave kerosene that was in a beverage can thinking it was water, the only boy in their house, already took some of the substance and immediate poured out the remaining in his mouth after knowing he was drinking kerosene, he went to meet his mother to complain to her.
His mother, Mrs. Ata Buhari who hails from Kogi State cried for help and was given palm oil to give him and was later rushed to the hospital where he gave up the ghost. Describing how she "erroneously" served her only son kerosene rather than water, Mrs Buhari, expressed that one of her daughter had filled a can of beverage with water, which they took to the shop that same day and had the same can in her shop, then when her son asked for water, she then gave him the one filled with kerosene.
