The City of London police have filed began investigation after ex Charlton Athletic player, Richard Rufus,lost £3.9 million which was deposited into his account by members of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) owned by Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo.

Rufus,a member of the church was said to have been loaned £5 million to invest with by KICC trustees in 2009 and 2010 after which he promised to return 55% per year.Rufus was then prosecuted two yrs ago for running a ponzi-style scheme between 2007 and 2011.The church was said to have allegedly collected £5.8 million from its members in 2015.Although,no arrest made,detectives from London police's fraud team are currently looking into the case.
