Security forces sent to Ojota, the site of the Yoruba Nation event in Lagos state, used tear gas to disperse demonstrators and arrested a number of them.

Despite a state police command order prohibiting the scheduled rally, protesters showed up.

The Nigerian Police Force, the Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, as well as their vans, were despatched to the rally area to prevent people from protesting. They, on the other hand, disobeyed the order and converged.

Those arrested were taken to the Black Maria, which was waiting for them. The protesters' strategic gathering sites were also sealed off by the police.

During a press conference this week, state Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu said the state cannot afford to experience the carnage that occurred when the #EndSARS protest in October 2020 was hijacked by certain hoodlums.

In the meantime, the protest site has returned to normalcy.
