Baba Ijesha drops no-case submission! See The Latest News On Baba Ijesha Case

The controversial Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, aka Baba Ijesha, will begin his defense in the alleged child molestation case against him on February 17 at the Lagos State Special Offences Court.

Baba Ijesha was taken to court for allegedly defiling comedian Princess' foster daughter. He is charged with indecent treatment of a kid, s*xual assault, attempted s*xual assault by penetration, and s*xual assault by penetration, among other things. The crimes, according to the police, are in violation of sections 135, 259, 262, 263 and 262 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.

After his attorney, O. Alo, informed the court that the senior defense counsel, Dada Awosika (SAN), was indisposed and begged the court for a brief adjournment date, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo established the date for the actor to commence his defense on Wednesday, January 26. Alo told the court on Wednesday that the defendant had chosen to defend himself and would no longer file a no-case submission.

"We never issued another no-case submission." We are requesting that the court set a date for our hearing in light of the new developments. Although Babatunde Ogala had notified Mr Awosika that he would not be in court today, none of the defendant's senior counsel are there. Mr. Awosika is ill and was unaware that he would be unable to attend court. My Lord, please accept our apologies. According to Alo,

Jide Martins, the prosecutor's lawyer, opposed the adjournment and requested Alo to continue the case.

However, Justice Taiwo approved the defense's plea, stating that counsel has always attended sessions. Alo will proceed with the case if the senior attorneys were not in court on the next postponed date, she said.

After upon, Justice Taiwo delayed the case to February 17 and 18, 2022, for defense.
