Osun State Government has repeatedly warned against drinking from the Osun River, but worshippers of the Osun Deity disobeyed their instructions.
According to the state administration, local miners' activities have contaminated the water, making it unsafe for human consumption. Regardless of the warning, people were observed drinking from the Osun River on Friday, August 12, including worshippers, tourists, and other festival goers.
The believers danced to traditional music while wearing white clothing and wearing beads, together with tourists who traveled from various states.
