NEW ROYALTY PRESENTED IN OYO, SHORTLY AFTER ALAAFIN'S DEATH

Months after the governing king, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, passed away in April, new royalty has indeed been welcomed into the Alaafin courts.
Upon hearing that the Alaafin had joined his predecessors, the Oyo empire was plunged into sadness. The king passed away following a brief illness at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti state, according to the palace, which verified the tragic news that many found impossible when it was originally reported.

The introduction of the new Elegeun following the death of the former one is a recent development regarding the Alaafin's palace.

The introduction of the new royalty, Sangowale Obuowo, was driven by the desire to continue promoting the Yoruba culture and tradition of the late Alaafin Oba Adeyemi III, according to an official statement on Alaafin's official Instagram page.

According to the reports, Sangowale Obuowo was said to be of Asipa origin and to have been from Ile Otapo in the state of Oyo.

The statement reads: “We are introducing to the world that sequel to the vacant position of the late Elegun who joined his ancestors and the need to continue the promotion of Yoruba Culture and Tradition as a work in progress of Alaafin Oba Adeyemi III, we present to you the NEW ELEGUN SANGO KOSO, he is SANGOWALE IBUOWO from ILE OTAPO, Asipa, Oyo.”
