Nollywood actress Bakare Zainab has opened up about her emotional last moments with her late colleague, Gbemi Anjola, who passed away on Friday, March 24th, 2023, after a long battle with ovarian cancer.

Gbemi Anjola had been diagnosed with the disease in 2021 and traveled to Dubai, UAE, for chemotherapy, which lasted for about six months. She returned to Nigeria cancer-free but unfortunately, on Friday, she started experiencing memory loss and headaches and was quickly rushed to the hospital. However, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The news of her passing was shared by her colleagues, Zainab Balogun and Itele, who took to their respective Instagram pages to mourn the loss of their friend and colleague.

Bakare Zainab shared a touching tribute on Instagram, reminiscing about the last moments she spent with the late actress. In the post, Bakare recounted how they prayed together and how Gbemi promised to stay strong for her, even consoling Bakare to stay strong for her as well. Bakare also reminded her of the promises they made, their photoshoots, plans, and more.

In her tribute, Bakare questioned what would happen to the large sum of money their male colleague, Ibrahim Yekini, better known as Itele, had sent Gbemi Anjola. She expressed her disbelief and sorrow and urged people not to say she was chasing clout, and called out to Gbemi to wake up, saying "GBEMI DIDE" (Gbemi, wake up).
