“Don’t Let Any Celebrity Start A Movement That Will Turn You Into A Memory” Tonto Dikeh Opposes Mohbad Protest

Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has voiced her disagreement with staging a protest in memory of the late singer Mohbad.

Yoruba actor Yomi Fabiyi had taken to his Instagram page to call for a protest organized by fans and supporters of the singer, with him at the forefront.

Tonto, however, advised her fans to abandon the idea of a protest and urged them not to allow any celebrity to lead a movement that might put their safety at risk. She referenced the End SARS protests and suggested an alternative approach to seeking justice for the late singer.

She encouraged her followers to initiate a campaign by tagging international bodies, Kenya's president, embassies, and organizations like UNICEF and the United Nations. Tonto emphasized that a protest could be risky and stated that celebrities aren't remaining silent out of fear but because there are more effective ways to address the issue.

In her message, she said, "This is bigger than you think, you all know absolutely nothing. You think your favorite celebrities are quiet because they are cowards. No no no no no... everyone just wants to see tomorrow."
