In a twist of events, Davido, the renowned singer and philanthropist, has decided to withdraw his support for a physically challenged pure water seller whose story went viral. The unfolding drama began when comedian Brain Jotter brought attention to the lady's dreams of becoming a makeup artist and gifted her N400k in support.
However, the plot thickened when it was later revealed that the lady had misrepresented herself, posing as female when she is, in fact, male. This revelation came as a shock, undermining the authenticity of the touching story that had initially garnered sympathy and support.
Davido, who had taken an interest in the individual and even called on his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, for assistance, expressed his disappointment on Twitter. In a candid tweet, Davido acknowledged being scammed and called for an "ABORT MISSION," signaling the withdrawal of support.
This incident serves as a cautionary tale about the complexities of verifying personal narratives in the digital age and the importance of exercising caution when extending help based on compelling stories.
