Controversial Nigerian singer Naira Marley, along with his aide, Sam Larry, have been granted bail after spending weeks in detention. However, the bail comes with stringent conditions.
They are required to provide three sureties with a substantial sum of N20 million as part of their bail conditions. Additionally, Naira Marley and Sam Larry must surrender their international passports and make weekly appearances at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The presiding Magistrate issued a stern warning against direct contact, emphasizing that any attempts to reach her would be recorded and possibly disclosed in open court proceedings.
The detention stemmed from accusations of physically assaulting the late Marlian Music signee, Mohbad, following his demise. In response, Naira Marley and Sam Larry filed a lawsuit against the Magistrate and the police, seeking N20 million each as damages.
This legal action has sparked discussions, with some supporting their stance and others reflecting on the gravity of the accusations that led to their detention. The initial court ruling had remanded Naira Marley and Sam Larry for 21 days over bullying allegations involving the late singer Mohbad.
