"You Cannot Charge Naira Marley Or Any To Court, Then Stop Violating Their Rights," Actor Yomi Fabiyi Tells Police

Nigerian actor and filmmaker Yomi Fabiyi has voiced his concern over the continued detention of Naira Marley and Sam Larry by the police. This detention is related to the controversial death of Naira Marley's former record label signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.

Yomi Fabiyi has urged the Nigerian police to either charge Naira Marley and any others in their custody to court or release them on bail. He emphasized that since 21 working days have passed, it is imperative to respect their rights.

In his statement, Fabiyi expressed that using one crime to investigate another is not the right approach, and everyone must live within the boundaries of the law to prevent miscarriages of justice.

He called for the police to act honestly and in accordance with the rule of law, either by charging those in detention or seeking court approval for an extension of custody, as provided by the law. Fabiyi stressed that investigations can continue while the individuals are on bail.

Fabiyi emphasized that it is essential to maintain transparency and objectivity in such cases to uphold human rights and justice, as everyone should be governed by the same set of rules. He concluded by urging the police to do what is right and respect the court, as turning a blind eye to such violations can have negative consequences for the economy, peace, development, and patriotism.
