NECO Releases 2023 November/December SSCE Results with 67.35% Success Rate

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the release of the 2023 November/December Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) external results, with 67.35% of candidates achieving five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.


Professor Dantani Wushishi, NECO’s Registrar and Chief Executive, made the announcement at the NECO headquarters in Minna on Monday. The examination was conducted from November 20th to December 20th, 2023.


Wushishi revealed that 74,950 candidates registered for the exam, with 52.31% male and 47.68% female candidates. A total of 74,342 candidates sat for the exam, with 52.28% male and 47.71% female candidates.


He noted that 75.59% of candidates who sat for English Language achieved Credit and above, while 92.75% of those who sat for Mathematics attained Credit and above.


Furthermore, 67.35% of candidates obtained five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics. Additionally, 84.11% of candidates secured five credits and above irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.


Wushishi highlighted a decline in malpractice cases, with 8,518 cases reported compared to 11,419 in 2022. The malpractice cases included instances of whole-center malpractice and cases of aiding and abetting.


In addition to the results announcement, Wushishi introduced the e-posting Software, designed to streamline staff postings and address issues of lopsidedness and favoritism. The digitalization of the posting process aims to make it more efficient and transparent, providing staff with notifications about assignments at the beginning of each year.
