EFCC arrests man for uttering death threats against its chairman

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended Kayode Cole for issuing a death threat against EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede. Cole was arrested on Monday, March 18, 2024, in the Lugbe area of Abuja.

The threat was made through Cole's Instagram handle, "1billionsecretss," in response to a media house's story about money laundering allegations involving a religious sect. Reacting in the comment section, Cole ominously stated that the EFCC Chairman would be dead in six months.

During interrogation, Cole claimed he was merely seeking attention. The EFCC has stated that he will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
