Nollywood Veteran Norbert Young Speaks On Why Actresses Earn More Than Actors

Legendary Nollywood actor Norbert Young sheds light on the disparity in earnings between male and female actors in the industry.

In a recent interview, the 63-year-old actor discussed the gender pay gap and its impact on Nollywood's evolution. Young attributed the higher earnings of actresses to their superior negotiating power, emphasizing that women are more likely to command higher pay due to their talent and popularity.

According to Young, women's inherent talent and likability make them more appealing to audiences, resulting in increased revenue generation. He clarified that this doesn't imply promiscuity, rather it underscores women's exceptional abilities.

Young acknowledged that each actor possesses their own bargaining power, suggesting that perhaps women negotiate more effectively. However, he emphasized the importance of individual priorities in determining what constitutes better pay.

"In the end, it's all relative. What matters is what aligns with your priorities; what's better for one may not be better for another," he concluded.
