“Junior Pope’s Death Could Have Been Avoided” Yvonne Jegede Blasts Nollywood Producers Over Junior Pope's Tragic Death

Nollywood star Yvonne Jegede has weighed in on the tragic passing of her colleague, Junior Pope, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding his untimely demise. Junior Pope lost his life in a drowning incident at Anam River while returning from a movie shoot in Anambra.

Expressing her grief and frustration, Yvonne highlighted how the tragedy could have been prevented if safety measures like wearing a life jacket had been taken seriously, either by Junior Pope himself or by the film producers. She emphasized that while many may blame him for not securing a life jacket, it's a decision that others might also make in similar situations.

Directing her message towards movie producers, Yvonne urged them to raise their standards and prioritize quality filmmaking. She emphasized that the pursuit of excellence should outweigh the desire for fame and profit.

In her statement, Yvonne said, "Hi guys, I have been very very angry because what happened is something that could have been avoided but here we are and we’ve all learnt. Yes, we blame him for not getting a life jacket before getting on the boat, but it is something that a lot of us will do. I know some actors that will not get on that boat without a life jacket, they will demand to have it no matter the names you call them. A lot of us will still do it. These days, everybody wants to be a producer. If you can’t produce a good film, pack up".
