Nigerian Lady Sentenced To Jail For Defamation Of Actress Eniola Badmus

Blessing Okoye Nwakaego, a Nigerian woman, has been handed a three-year prison sentence for defaming actress Eniola Badmus on social media.

The woman had accused the actress of being involved in illegal activities, alleging she was a pimp facilitating transactions with politicians.

Upon investigation, Okoye confessed that she was coerced into making the accusations by her friend, Fortune Ibe, who is currently evading arrest.

Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court in Lagos delivered the verdict on Wednesday, finding Okoye guilty of cyberstalking.

Despite pleading guilty, Okoye showed remorse, leading to the court offering her the option of paying a fine of N150,000 instead of serving jail time.
