Nigerian Man Sets Sights On Guinness World Record For Longest Marathon Ironing

On Monday, April 22, 2024, Onele, hailing from Ebonyi, embarked on a journey to break a remarkable record. Currently pursuing his Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in electrical engineering at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Anambra State, Onele is poised to attempt the Guinness World Record for the longest marathon ironing session.

Speaking to reporters in Abakaliki, Onele revealed that he had received approval from Guinness for the marathon ironing attempt, along with strict guidelines to adhere to. With a passion for ironing since childhood, he aims to surpass the records set by Australian Huston and British Garric Standard.

"One of the rules says I have 30 seconds to pick materials. So, whenever I finish ironing a material, I have 30 seconds to pick up another material and iron. And for the rest break, I have just 5 minutes to rest after one hour," Onele explained.

After rigorous research and a lengthy application process, Onele's determination paid off when Guinness approved his application to attempt the world record. He is now set to follow the specified guidelines meticulously in his quest to etch his name in the record books.

If successful, Onele will become the new holder of the Guinness World Record for the longest marathon ironing by an individual, showcasing his engineering prowess and determination to achieve extraordinary feats.
