Actress Tonto Dikeh writes an open letter to Nigerians, urging them not to embark on a protest.

Nollywood actress and politician Tonto Dikeh has appealed to Nigerians to reconsider their plans for a nationwide protest scheduled for August 1-10, 2024. In a heartfelt Instagram post, she acknowledged the widespread frustration and the impact of rising prices, which have increased by 100%.

While she recognizes the right to protest and the civil rights of the youth, she expressed concerns about the potential for violence, drawing from her experience with the EndSARS protest, which was marred by hijacking by ill-minded individuals.

Instead, Tonto suggested forming a representative group to meet with the President and advocate for the people's concerns. She emphasized the importance of addressing these economic challenges through peaceful and diplomatic means.

"Sometimes we can be right, but our mode of expression is what matters. This is an honest plea to all Nigerian youths. Let’s make smart choices," she concluded.
