As the planned national protest on August 1 approaches, actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has urged President Bola Tinubu to speak to Nigerians about his plans to ease the country's economic hardships.
In a video posted on her Instagram page on Tuesday, July 30, Nkechi asked the President to address the nation and outline steps to reduce the cost of living.
“This message is for His Excellency, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. All protocols duly observed. Sir, I understand you do not want a protest in Nigeria, but as our President, you need to come on national TV and address us. Tell us the measures you are taking to restore food prices to normal.
There is hunger in the land, and as citizens, we need to hear from you so that everyone can calm down. The protest aims to voice complaints and find solutions. Instead of trying to sabotage the protest, please tell us what measures you are taking to provide a solution. With all due respect, sir, what are the plans? Come to us, talk to us like your children.”
Nkechi emphasized that both the rich and poor are affected by the economic situation and that addressing the nation's concerns would help calm the situation.
Netizens reacted positively to her appeal, supporting her call for transparency and action from the government.
