Veteran actor Yinka Quadri has voiced his support for actress Toyin Abraham and spoken out against the recent social media bullying incident involving her and a user on X.
He emphasized the need for solidarity among actors and actresses to ensure that social media bullying is not tolerated and that oppression by social media users is taken seriously.
Quadri highlighted that celebrities are human too, with blood flowing through their veins, and they should not be treated as if they have no life or value.
In his statement, Quadri noted that public figures have the right to freedom of choice and expression, including political decisions, without facing cyberbullying and harassment. He shared a personal experience where a fake report of his death was posted online, suggesting that if he had taken legal action, people might have accused him of bullying and abusing power.
He concluded by stating that celebrities should be free to take proper action to protect their mental space and well-being.
