Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola is celebrating a major achievement as her cinema debut, Queen Lateefah, earned ₦57.7 million during its opening weekend. The film, released last week, has set a new record as the highest-grossing Nollywood opening for a non-holiday weekend and the highest ever by an independent distributor.
Expressing her gratitude to her fans and supporters, Wumi took to Instagram to share her joy:
“Grateful beyond words. Queen Lateefah just hit ₦57.7m on its opening weekend! Thank you all for the love and support. Don’t miss out on this wonderful journey, grab your tickets now and join the adventure!”
Several of her colleagues and Nollywood stars congratulated her on the achievement. Stan Nze, Mercy Aigbe, Joke Jigan, and Kemi Korede were among the actors who commented with messages of support. Fellow actress Mo Bimpe also chimed in with a heartfelt, "Big congratulations sis," while Habeebat Jinad praised God with Alhamdulilahi.
