Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has shared the personal story behind her upcoming cinema debut, Queen Lateefah, revealing how a painful accident became her source of strength and motivation. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Wumi shared photos of her injured hands and legs, recounting how she slipped and fell heavily in her room just two days before filming was set to begin. With her nanny on break and no one else at home, her young son was left screaming, but Wumi was determined to push through.
She explained that although she feared she might not be able to stand, the dream of shooting Queen Lateefah, a project she had been working on for years, gave her the strength to carry on despite the intense pain. Even after breaking her knees, Wumi pressed forward, not knowing how she would manage to return to the set. After a hospital visit, she resumed filming with fresh wounds still covered in bandages, but she refused to let the pain or scars stop her.
In her message, Wumi reflected on the deeper meaning of her experience, writing, “A scar is a sign of strength; just so you know, a STAR, not a SCAR." She emphasized that every scar tells a story of resilience and growth, serving as a reminder of our ability to overcome challenges.
Wumi concluded her post by encouraging fans to watch Queen Lateefah, which is currently showing in cinemas nationwide, promising they will love it.
