“If you talk to me at 1 am, you will disappear into my coven” – Kanayo Kanayo warns Toyin Abraham while receiving an award at BON.

Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo Kanayo has issued a humorous warning to actress Toyin Abraham following his recognition at the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards.

On Sunday, Nollywood stars, filmmakers, and industry practitioners gathered at the Sugar Factory Film Studios in Ilorin, Kwara State, for the prestigious event. Kanayo Kanayo was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by the Governor of Kwara State.

During his acceptance speech, Kanayo expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Governor and the BON organizers for the honor. He dedicated the award to his colleagues battling health issues, particularly those affected by drug use. He also called for collective efforts from state governments to support unwell Nollywood stars.

In a lighthearted moment, Kanayo addressed Toyin Abraham, playfully warning her to avoid speaking to him late at night or risk being whisked away to his "coven."

He said:

"Toyin Abraham, it’s just some minutes to midnight; if you talk to me at 1 am, I’ll take you to the coven, and you will disappear.

Addressing the Governor, he added:

"Your Excellency, it’s a privilege to have this award presented to me by you. At 62 years old, I am doing well in Nollywood, and I dedicate this award to my colleagues who are sick or battling challenges."

The BON Awards continue to celebrate exceptional contributions to the Nigerian film industry, with Kanayo Kanayo’s award highlighting his decades of impact and influence in Nollywood.
