Actress Moyo Lawal reveals why she never wears short clothes out or leaves her house.

Nollywood actress Moyo Lawal has opened up about her fashion choices, sharing that she avoids wearing short clothes in public or leaving her house because of the attention it draws. In a playful video posted on Instagram, Moyo was seen twerking at the premiere of the movie Thinline. She explained that events with risqué dress codes, such as “Sincityglam,” make it easy for her to showcase bold moves like her twerking.

Moyo captioned the video: “This is why I never wear short things out or leave my house... Then you give me a dress code like ‘Sincityglam.’ Come on now. P.S. I did my makeup myself; how did I do? Dress and ensemble by @gwillsdesigns, who is probably tired of my scary ideas.”

Past Controversy

Last year, Moyo faced backlash after an intimate video featuring her and her ex-fiancé leaked online. Critics slammed her for allowing the video to be recorded, while Moyo clarified that the video was filmed consensually during her relationship with her ex-fiancé, who lived abroad and was planning to marry her. She expressed her outrage, stating that the video was released without her permission, violating her trust and privacy.

Moyo also revealed that she had been intimate only twice in 2022, one of which resulted in the leaked tape. She threatened legal action against the leak and explained her reasons for consenting to the video.

Mixed Reactions from Colleagues

The incident drew reactions from industry colleagues. Mary Njoku criticized Nigerians for blaming the victim, while Uche Maduagwu urged the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) to suspend Moyo. Prince Eke questioned her future brand partnerships, and investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo made allegations against Moyo, claiming the video was staged and the man was paid to record it.

Standing Strong

Despite the challenges, Moyo has remained resilient. On her birthday this year, Mary Njoku penned an uplifting message, calling Moyo one of the calmest people she knows and acknowledging how 2023 was a particularly tough year for her. Njoku commended Moyo for enduring public scrutiny with strength and grace.

Moyo’s recent reflections and bold personality continue to keep her in the spotlight, showing her determination to rise above criticism.
