Popular Yoruba actress Dewunmi Fatai has shared the challenges she faces in her love life, revealing that being a single mother has made it difficult for her to find a committed partner.
In a candid interview on Oyinmomo TV’s official YouTube page, Fatai admitted that while she is open to love, many men lose interest in her once they find out she has a child. According to her, some men initially express excitement about being in a relationship with her, but later withdraw because they are unwilling to embrace her son.
Beyond her status as a single mother, Fatai also spoke about other reasons her past relationships have ended. She explained that while many of her partners started off well, they eventually became frustrated and distant for reasons she struggled to understand. She noted that these sudden mood swings were often signs of deeper issues that ultimately led to breakups.
Another challenge she highlighted was the perception that she is "too tough." She explained that while she is independent and knows her worth, some men misinterpret this as a flaw. Rather than compromise her identity to fit societal expectations, she chooses to walk away from relationships where she does not feel appreciated.
Despite these setbacks, the actress remains hopeful about finding a partner who will love and accept her for who she is, including her role as a devoted mother. She emphasized that true love should be inclusive and accepting, not conditional or selective.
For now, Fatai is focusing on her career and personal growth while keeping an open heart for the right person. She believes that love should not be forced or rushed and that the right man will come into her life at the right time.
She said:
"I’m single and looking for a good man, but some men keep dumping me because of my son. A few of the men I have dated started off well, but later left because they thought I was too tough. Sometimes, they would suddenly become irritated for no reason, and I usually end the relationship whenever I notice such behavior."
