Naira Marley Reacts After Court Clears Him of Mohbad’s Death, Shares Quranic Verses

Nigerian singer Naira Marley has broken his silence after a Magistrate court in Yaba, Lagos, cleared him, his aide Sam Larry, and Prime Boy of any involvement in the death of late singer Mohbad.

On Tuesday, the court ruled that the trio had no case to answer regarding Mohbad’s tragic passing. However, the court stated that the auxiliary nurse who injected Mohbad and one of his friends, Ayobami, would face prosecution for reckless and negligent acts.

Following the verdict, Naira Marley took to his Twitter and Instagram pages to share verses from the Quran. One of the verses emphasized that anyone who puts their trust in Allah will find Him sufficient, while another highlighted how people conspire against others, but Allah remains the best planner.

“And whoever puts all his trust in Allah, He will be enough for him. (65:3),” he posted.

He also quoted, “And ‘remember, O Prophet,’ when the disbelievers conspired to capture, kill, or exile you. They planned, but Allah also planned. And Allah is the best of planners.”

Mohbad, a former signee of Naira Marley’s record label, died under unclear circumstances on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27. His sudden passing sparked outrage, particularly after a video surfaced online showing Sam Larry assaulting him. This led to widespread condemnation of Naira Marley and his label, as well as their eventual arrest.

The singer and his aide were detained for over five weeks before being released on bail on November 17, 2023. In an attempt to regain public favor, they later engaged in various charitable acts.

In March, a video of an Imam leading a prayer session with Naira Marley and Sam Larry surfaced online, causing controversy. The Imam later clarified that the duo had confessed their innocence to him and had asked for prayers for Mohbad’s real killers.
