Popular Nollywood actor Rotimi Salami has opened up about the challenges he faced at the beginning of his acting career. In an interview on Feelrightnews TV’s official YouTube channel, the actor revealed that he almost quit acting to focus on his education after facing constant rejection.
Rotimi explained that during his early years, he would travel long distances to attend auditions, but despite his efforts, he struggled to secure roles. For three years, he only got one movie role. He shared that many producers told him he could not be cast because of his small face and small body, as they preferred actors with bigger physiques.
“It was not easy at all. The auditions were far from where I lived. I kept going for movie auditions for three years, but I got only one role. I was told several times that my small body and face didn’t fit the roles they had. I cried when some producers said they couldn’t give me a chance because of how I looked,” he said.
Despite these painful moments, Rotimi Salami did not give up. He eventually overcame these challenges and has now become one of Nollywood’s respected actors. His story has inspired many, showing that perseverance and self-belief can overcome rejection.
