“That’s Just Noise” – Mercy Aigbe Addresses Criticism Over Her Marriage to Kazim Adeoti

Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mercy Aigbe Adeoti has responded to negative remarks about her marriage to Kazim Adeoti. In an interview with her colleague Bimpe Akintunde on the talk show Iriri Mi, she dismissed the criticisms as mere “noise” and questioned the personal lives of those making such comments.

During the interview, Mercy expressed how unfazed she is by people claiming she has influenced or changed her husband, a father of four. She emphasized that people only talk about individuals who are successful or well-known, adding that being at the top naturally makes one a subject of discussion.

"That’s just noise. Look closely at those talking—how is their life? People only talk when someone is doing something good. If you’re not known, you can’t be their topic. You have to be at the top to be a topic," she stated.

Mercy also revealed that her decision to remarry was met with resistance from her family, particularly due to her age. However, she remained firm in her choice because she knew what she wanted. She expressed her deep love for marriage, stating that she has always wanted a husband as her “crown.”

"I love love, actually. Many people, including some of my family members, asked me why I remarried at nearly 50 years old. But I believe everyone knows what they want. What you want might be different from mine. I know what I saw, and I know what I wanted. I am the kind of person who loves to have a crown (husband) on my head and loves to be married. Maybe, if I were still in my baby daddy’s house, I wouldn’t be known as Mercy Aigbe."

Her statement has sparked mixed reactions online, with many applauding her confidence while others continue to express their disapproval. Despite the controversy, Mercy remains steadfast in her decision, embracing the love and happiness she has found in her marriage.
