Nollywood actress Bukky Raji, popularly known as Bully Raji, has opened up about her difficult relationship with her elder sister, fellow actress Remi Surutu.
Speaking in an interview with Biola Bayo, Bukky revealed that although they are biological sisters — sharing the same father but different mothers — they are not close. She recalled how she invited Remi to her wedding introduction in Ikorodu, but she didn’t attend, despite initially agreeing to come and living nearby.
Bukky explained that all her efforts to reconcile and build a bond with Remi were unsuccessful. She expressed disappointment, noting that their personal issues should not be influenced by past disputes between their mothers.
“Remi Surutu is my blood sister. We share the same father. But emotionally and otherwise, we are distant. I invited her to my wedding introduction, but she didn’t show up. I tried reaching out and even involved my mother and others to help mend things, but it didn’t work. If I didn’t know her personally and only saw her from afar, I would be her biggest fan. I believe the issues between our mothers shouldn’t affect us.”
Bukky also opened up about why she married late, revealing that as the last child in her family, she didn’t see marriage as a priority.
“I married late because I’m the last born. My father died when I was seven, and my mother never remarried. She focused on us. I grew up thinking marriage wasn’t that important.”
Her emotional story has sparked discussions online about family rifts and the importance of separating generational conflicts from sibling relationships.
