Popular Yoruba singer and actor TeeFamous has shared an emotional story about one of the lowest moments in his career, revealing how he was underpaid and left in tears after working tirelessly on a movie set.
In an interview on Kunle Afod TV’s YouTube channel, TeeFamous recalled how he spent six full days shooting a movie, only to discover he was paid a heartbreaking ₦500, far less than what was originally assigned to him on the payment list.
“I worked for six days. I saw the payment list and felt so happy with what was allocated to me. I didn’t ask questions because I trusted the actor in charge. After filming, he offered me a ride and as I was getting down, I asked about my money. He acted surprised, then reached into his pocket and handed me ₦500. I was in shock,” he said.
The shocking incident left TeeFamous devastated. He confessed that he locked himself in his room and cried for three straight days, emotionally crushed by the betrayal and disrespect. During that time, he even prayed to God, asking whether he should give up on acting altogether.
“I told God that if the film industry is not my path, He should take it away from me,” he added.
His honest revelation has sparked online conversations about the exploitation and struggles many up-and-coming talents face in Nollywood, particularly in the Yoruba film industry. Fans and fellow entertainers have sympathized with him, calling for better treatment and fair pay for rising stars.
TeeFamous’s story adds to the growing number of actors speaking out about their behind-the-scenes challenges—putting a spotlight on the need for reforms and respect in the industry.
