Popular Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has opened up about her failed marriage to actor Adeniyi Johnson, revealing that her family had advised her not to marry him, but she ignored their warnings.
Speaking in an interview on The Announcer TV’s YouTube channel, Toyin explained that her family, coming from a Christian background, had prayed about the relationship and clearly told her that Adeniyi wasn’t the right man. However, driven by what she now calls stubbornness, she went ahead with the marriage.
“My family said Adeniyi Johnson wasn’t the right man for me, but I was stubborn. I’ve learnt a lot from that marriage. I’m more mature now,” she said.
Toyin revealed that her current marriage to fellow actor Kolawole Ajeyemi was supported by her family and encouraged by her godmother. She shared that this time, she approached the relationship with more maturity and openness, acknowledging that her previous experiences had helped her grow.
She confessed that in her first marriage, she would often get angry easily over small issues, but now, with two children and a deeper understanding of marriage, she has changed.
“My husband said I must be submissive. I told him I would be because I’ve learnt lessons. There are things I can’t do again. I’ve grown.”
Fans have praised Toyin for her honesty and personal growth, noting that her transparency could serve as a lesson for many women going through similar challenges in relationships.
