Veteran Yoruba actor Elegbeje Ado has announced a major shift in his acting career, revealing that he now only features in gospel films following a divine instruction from God.
The respected thespian, once a popular face in Nollywood, shared this during an interview on Kunle Afod’s YouTube channel, where he explained the spiritual journey that has reshaped his career path. According to Elegbeje, God warned him not to act in regular Nollywood movies anymore, but to focus solely on Christian-based films.
Despite receiving tempting and lucrative offers from top producers in the industry, the actor said he has consistently turned them down in obedience to the divine warning. He emphasized that the instruction from God came with clear consequences for disobedience, and he is determined not to risk it.
“I used to get calls from producers to act in Nollywood movies, but I always declined because God warned me not to accept such roles anymore. Even when I don’t have money, I still say no. God told me that if I disobey Him, I shouldn't complain if anything happens to me,” he said.
Elegbeje Ado noted that though the decision has come with personal and financial sacrifices, he has found peace in his obedience to God’s command. His story has sparked admiration from fans online, who praised his faith and commitment.
