Award-winning Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has emotionally reflected on the striking resemblance between his newborn twin son and his late son, Ifeanyi, who tragically passed away in November 2022.
In a heartfelt interview with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1, the Grammy-nominated artist revealed how the death of Ifeanyi was one of the darkest periods of his life. He admitted that the loss made him take a step back from the spotlight to focus on his wife, Chioma, and their family.
“That type of loss made you just be like, ‘I’m out’. I’m just going to chill, take care of my wife and the family, and get my head right,” Davido shared.
The couple quietly tied the knot shortly after the tragic event and welcomed their twins in October 2023. According to Davido, the physical resemblance between his twin son and Ifeanyi is “scary,” to the point that the family jokingly believes their late son “came back.”
“The boy looks just like my son that passed. It is scary. It’s like literally him. We’re like, ‘No, it’s him. He came back,’” he said.
Despite the pain, Davido said the experience strengthened his faith and reshaped his perspective on life.
“To come back from that and be blessed with twins out the gate… it just shows God is real,” he said.
Now a father of five, Davido says he is more empathetic, grounded, and inspired to spread light through his music and personal journey.
