"The Nollywood industry has cacus," Portable alleges after Ibrahim Chatta loses out at the 11th AMVCA.

Controversial Nigerian singer Portable, also known as Habeeb Okikiola, has accused the Nigerian entertainment industry of conspiring against certain talents, including veteran Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta.

In a video shared on his Instagram page, Portable reacted to Chatta’s loss at the 11th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA). Chatta was nominated for Best Lead Actor for his performance in House of Gaa, but the award was given to Femi Adebayo for his role in Seven Doors. Adebayo’s co-star, Chioma Chukwuka, also won Best Lead Actress.

Portable expressed disappointment, claiming Chatta’s performance was more deserving. He also compared it to his own past experience with The Headies, where he felt sidelined.

His words:

“My fans, there is a gang-up in the Nigerian entertainment industry. Ibrahim Chatta didn’t get the AMVCA award despite his perfect acting. The same thing happened to me with The Headies. But we don’t need awards, we need food and money. Some people buy awards, but we have real talent."

He added a message of encouragement to Chatta:

“Ibrahim Chatta, if they don’t award you, God will reward you. You are my mentor. I love you, boss.”

It is worth noting that Ibrahim Chatta had made similar claims in 2023, alleging that he was deliberately excluded from AMVCA nominations that year.
