Nollywood star and producer Femi Adebayo has paid a heartfelt tribute to his father, the legendary actor Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, as he celebrates 60 remarkable years in the Nigerian film industry.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, Femi shared an emotional message praising his father's long-standing dedication and impact on Nollywood. He also announced a new film, “Her Excellency,” directed and produced by Oga Bello himself, as part of the celebration.
“Some stories are bigger than words, and some men are greater than the legends told about them,” Femi began.
“Today, I stand with immense pride, gratitude, and joy as I celebrate my father — my mentor, my hero.”
Femi described the upcoming movie, Her Excellency, as a true reflection of his father’s artistry, passion, and lifetime dedication to storytelling. The film is set to premiere on June 29 and will begin showing in cinemas across Nigeria from July 4, 2025.
“This moment isn’t just for him,” Femi added. “It’s for every dreamer, every creative, every artist who dares to build, to sacrifice, to endure.”
The tribute ended with a touching message of gratitude:
“Daddy, your legacy lights the path for generations. I remain forever grateful to call you father and teacher.”
And a rallying call to fans:
“Let’s make history together and troop into cinemas come July 4th!”
Adebayo Salami began his acting journey in 1964 as a member of the Young Concert Party, founded by the late Ojo Ladipo. After Ladipo’s death in 1978, Salami took over leadership and transformed the group into the iconic Awada Kerikeri Theatre Group, a key force in shaping Yoruba theatre and film.
As the Nigerian entertainment industry celebrates this major milestone, many have praised Oga Bello’s six-decade career as a symbol of consistency, excellence, and mentorship for upcoming talents.
