A new wave of controversy has hit social media after popular Nigerian comedienne and actress Princess accused veteran Nollywood star Iya Rainbow of playing a role in the release of convicted actor Baba Ijesha.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), Princess alleged that Iya Rainbow was responsible for securing Baba Ijesha’s freedom from prison and claimed she even took him to visit the Ooni of Ife’s palace.
“She’s the one behind his release… She took him into the palace to see the Ooni,” Princess said, expressing her disappointment and calling the action a “disgraceful endorsement of a convicted abuser.”
Baba Ijesha, a Nollywood actor, was convicted in 2022 for sexually assaulting a minor under Princess’s care. The case had drawn national attention and led to widespread calls for justice.
The recent sighting of Baba Ijesha allegedly walking free and visiting the Ooni’s palace has angered many Nigerians. Social media has been filled with debates about whether justice was served or undermined.
Princess’s accusations have triggered massive reactions, with many demanding accountability from those involved. So far, Iya Rainbow has not responded to the claims, and the Ooni’s palace has also stayed silent on the matter.
