Nollywood actor Ayo Olaiya has appealed to both the Nigerian government and the family of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, to speed up the investigation into his tragic death.
Taking to his Instagram page, Olaiya reflected on the singer’s impactful life and untimely passing, stating that Mohbad was clearly destined for greatness. He emphasized that the events surrounding his life and the attention his death has drawn prove he was “born to rule the world.”
Calling for justice, Olaiya urged all involved parties to act swiftly and do what is right so that the late singer can finally rest in peace.
“The life Imole lived while he was alive and the events that followed after he departed this sinful world show that he was born to rule the world. To all the parties concerned — family and government — please hasten your investigation and do the needful. Let the dead rest. Mohbad deserves a proper rest. Rest on, legend,” he wrote.
Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Records, passed away under controversial circumstances on September 12, 2023, at just 27 years old. His death sparked widespread outrage, protests, and calls for justice from fans and fellow celebrities.
At the 2023 Headies Awards, Mohbad was posthumously honored with two awards — Best Street Hop Artiste and Viewer’s Choice for his song “Egwu” featuring Chike. His widow, Wunmi, gave an emotional speech, saying she doesn’t call him her late husband because “he lives on through their son, Liam.”
Wunmi also expressed her deep appreciation to the Headies for recognizing Mohbad’s legacy and giving him the honor he deserved.
