Award-winning Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has sent a powerful message to Nigerians, urging them to speak up about their struggles, especially when it comes to emotional pain and mental health.
In a passionate post shared on her social media platform, the movie star tackled the stigma around "oversharing", saying people should not let fear of judgment stop them from expressing what they’re going through.
“Let them say you’re oversharing!! Let them think you talk too much!! But speak up!!!” she wrote.
Funke warned about the dangers of suffering in silence, stressing that speaking out can save lives, while silence can be deadly.
“Because when you’re alive, there’s solution. Silence can be deadly, but words can save.”
She also reassured her fans that being vulnerable is not a weakness but a sign of strength. She encouraged anyone feeling low to remember their worth:
“You are stronger than you think. You are braver than you feel. You are loved more than you know.”
The actress concluded with a bold call to action:
“Speak up, stay alive!! #suicidenottheoption #notosuicide”
Her message has sparked a wave of positive reactions online, with fans and mental health advocates praising her for using her platform to promote mental wellness and emotional support.
