Nollywood actress Bose Alao has candidly shared details about her marital struggles and her relationship with colleague Iyabo Ojo in a heartfelt interview with Biola Bayo.
Bose revealed that she and her husband were separated for three years, during which she became his “side chick.” She emotionally recounted how she once called her husband only for another woman to answer and insult her by calling her an “old taker.” The actress said this broke her deeply, especially after sacrificing her career for the sake of her marriage.
“My husband and I separated for three good years. I became his side chick to my husband. When a woman is done, she is done. There was a time I called, and the lady he was dating called me an old taker. It broke me because I sacrificed so much for my marriage,” she said.
Reflecting on marriage, Bose stated that no one truly knows themselves until they get married. “You may think you are calm, but marriage can bring out another side of you,” she added.
Bose also revealed her financial struggles and how she resorted to unconventional means to sustain herself, including selling personal photos in exchange for designer items and cash.
In the same interview, she praised Iyabo Ojo for playing a pivotal role in changing her life. She revealed that Iyabo first noticed her while hosting a traditional wedding and later booked her to anchor her daughter Priscilla’s wedding program, which opened new doors for her.
“Aunty Iyabo saw me on a job. She said she didn’t know I was that good and promised I would anchor Priscilla’s wedding. That job changed a lot of things in my home,” she said.
Bose concluded by saying she has experienced things she wouldn’t even wish on her enemies but remains grateful for the opportunities and lessons learned.
