Nigerian music star Davido has stirred online buzz after unfollowing Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo on Instagram. This move comes amid her ongoing drama with controversial social media activist, Very Dark Man (VDM).
It was earlier reported that VDM shared a screenshot of a message Iyabo posted in a controversial WhatsApp group where she and others were allegedly fighting for late singer Mohbad. Following the revelation, social media users quickly noticed that Davido had unfollowed Iyabo Ojo, though the actress still follows him.
The action has triggered mixed reactions online. While some criticized Davido, others applauded his decision.
Some notable reactions include:
“This is what VDM wants, people should hate Iyabo for no reason,” wrote wildsparkles22.
“Thank you David,” said dolly_vicz.
“David na pussy boy,” commented tracytracy221.
“VDM has been insulting but he dare not unfollow him. Kai, the fear of VDM is the beginning of wisdom,” added idokotonia.
Davido’s support for VDM isn’t new. During the activist’s arrest in May, Davido publicly called for his release, praising the positive impact VDM has had on people’s lives. The two have also shared a close friendship over the past year, with Davido previously referring to VDM as a “freedom fighter.”
This connection deepened when VDM defended Davido against allegations that his bodyguards bullied businessman Abu Salami in Abuja. VDM admitted the guards belonged to Davido but dismissed claims that they killed anyone, citing lack of evidence.
VDM has also publicly celebrated Davido following him on Instagram, declaring the singer the “number one Afrobeat artiste in the world.”
