Hilda Baci to Attempt World’s Largest Pot of Jollof Rice in Lagos

Nigeria’s star chef Hilda Baci has announced a new culinary challenge aimed at cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.

In a statement shared on Instagram Friday, Baci revealed that the massive dish will be prepared in a pot measuring six meters wide and six meters tall. She explained that the project has been in planning for two years and will serve not only as a cooking challenge but also as a cultural festival celebrating Nigerian food, music, and community spirit.

The event is scheduled for September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island, Lagos. Partnering with household food brand Gino, Baci described the project as the fulfillment of a long-held dream. She wrote:

“In 2023, the Hilda Baci cookathon took the world by storm. This year, it’s Jollof — the heartbeat of West Africa. A celebration of our food, our culture, our music, and us.”

Baci first gained international attention in May 2023 when she set the Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking marathon. That record was later broken by Irish chef Alan Fisher in November 2023.
