Fresh reports online claim that the parents of Chioma, wife of Nigerian music star Davido, will not be able to attend the couple’s much-anticipated white wedding in Miami, Florida, this weekend due to a reported 10-year United States travel ban.
According to celebrity blogger Stella Dimoko Korkus, Chioma’s parents allegedly had their five-year US visas revoked after they overstayed the allowed period during a visit in 2024. The report stated that after Davido and Chioma’s traditional wedding last year, Chioma returned to the US with her parents and sister. Her parents reportedly remained in the US for over a year before returning to Nigeria, which violated the visa’s terms.
As a result, the US authorities allegedly revoked their visas and placed a decade-long travel ban on them. This means Chioma’s father, who was expected to walk her down the aisle, will miss the Miami ceremony. The blog also noted that there is now concern over who will care for the couple’s twins during the wedding, as Chioma’s parents had been their primary caregivers.
The news has sparked mixed reactions online. While some fans downplayed the situation, noting that Chioma’s parents were present for both the traditional and civil weddings, others criticized the decision to hold the white wedding in the US despite their absence.
Some comments read:
“It’s no big deal; they were at the traditional and civil weddings.”
“Why not move the wedding to a location where her parents can attend?”
“Everyone knows you can’t stay more than six months on a US visitor’s visa.”
“Your parents are banned, and you still hold your wedding in America? That says a lot.”
The lavish Miami wedding is scheduled for August 10th, and many hope Chioma’s parents will at least watch the event via live stream.
